ANKARA (AA) – Twenty-three PKK terrorists were killed on Monday in Turkey’s southeastern provinces of Mardin, Sirnak, and Hakkari, the Turkish military announced Tuesday.
According to a Turkish General Staff statement, three PKK terrorists were killed in Mardin’s Nusaybin district Monday, which increased the total number of terrorists killed in the province to 45 since operations began.
In Sirnak, eight PKK terrorists were killed Saturday, bringing the total number of terrorists killed in the province to 41 since operations began.
In Hakkari, 12 terrorists were killed in the Yuksekova district, increasing the total number of terrorists killed in the province to 57 since operations began.
Also, two people were captured in Batman province for “aiding and abetting” the PKK terrorist organization.
The military also announced that one soldier was martyred and six others were wounded when PKK terrorists detonated a homemade bomb on Tuesday in Nusaybin district.
The statement added that one of the six soldiers was seriously wounded.
Meanwhile, one police officer was martyred and four others were wounded after PKK terrorists exploded a bomb on the Mardin-Diyarbakir highway when a police armored car was passing by.
The wounded officers were taken to Mardin State Hospital.
